Electronic fuel injection systems are one of the largest product categories in the hot-rodding industry, and by now you’re familiar with their many advantages. Most manufacturers have moved to a self-learning model, making the difficult days of programming fuel and spark curve tables largely a thing of the past for all but for the most powerful competition vehicles. Prices, too, have come down as the number of choices has grown, and it’s to the point where it may even seem irrelevant which brand you use, outside of the price and color. If you’re in the market for a bolt-on self-learning EFI system for your Gen III LS V-8 (LS1, LS2, LS6), then you’ve probably wished for a little sage advice before buying, in which case we’d like to tell you about a new product line Summit Racing just bent our ear about: FiTech’s self-learning Ultimate Rebel LS EFI systems for cathedral-port Gen III V-8s.

Ultimate Rebel LS EFI Systems are available in 500-, 750-, and 1,000-horsepower ratings with each system featuring a self-learning ECU for simplified tuning. Many kits are also available with a complete fuel system featuring an in-tank or external inline electric fuel pump kit. FiTech also offers Rebel LS EFI systems with automatic transmission controllers and coil packs, and we’re going to unpack all that in a minute. FiTech’s Ultimate Rebel LS builds upon the success of its Ultimate LS systems, but the “Rebel” version has benefited from a more streamlined appearance and incorporates a new fuel rail bracket that makes the Ultimate Rebel LS a better fit for some vehicles than prior FiTech manifolds.

FiTech’s “Ultimate Rebel LS” EFI kits pack a lot of necessary gear in a single box, and when ordered correctly, it comes with everything you’ll need for a sanitary LS swap. FiTech’s system should not be confused with the “Rebel LS” line of systems manufactured by Haltech.

Complete LS EFI Systems Start at $2,026.99

The FiTech Ultimate Rebel LS system is available in 91 flavors (and growing!) that allow you to select or de-select for an optional FiTech Go Shift GM transmission controller, LS3-style coil packs, Go Fuel fuel system (in-tank, external sump, inline, or none), LCD digital dash display, and a choice of either a 92mm throttle body (500 hp) or 102mm throttle bodies (750 and 1,000 hp). Moreover, the streamlined FiTech Ultimate Rebel LS intake manifold is available as a stand-alone kit at a price of $995, and FiTech says more combinations will be forthcoming. At present, prices on complete FiTech Ultimate Rebel LS systems range from $2,026.99 (500 hp, 36 lb/hr injectors, 92mm throttle body, 600hp Go Fuel in-tank fuel pump module, no coil packs, no trans controller, no LCD digital dash display, part number 76488) to $3,220.99 (1,000 hp, 80 lb/hr injectors, 102mm throttle body, 1,000-hp Go Fuel in-tank fuel pump module, LS3-compatible coil packs, trans controller, LCD digital dash display, part number 79893).

FiTech Fuel System Options

FiTech has been a major player in kitting out stand-alone EFI fuel systems under it’s Go Fuel line, and here every Ultimate Rebel LS kit can be optioned with one of the company’s Go Fuel setups (or no fuel system, use your own), but with so many kit part numbers, you’ll want to check the fine print to see if your selected kit has a fuel system included. You’ll have plenty of choices (one of the reasons there are so many SKU numbers under the Ultimate Rebel LS line) including for in-tank kits (600 hp or 1,000 hp), Force Fuel sump systems (255 lph, 340 lph, and 860 lph) and inline fuel pump master kits.

FiTech Ultimate Rebel LS EFI kit for LS1/2/6 with 600 hp single in-tank pump fuel kit, 92mm throttle body, handheld controller, 36 lb/hr injectors, fuel rail kit, injector harnesses, wiring harness, O2 sensor kit, tight-fit fuel pressure regulator with gauge, and no LCD digital display, trans controller, or coil packs.

What’s Included? What’s Optional?

We found FiTech’s line of Ultimate Rebel LS EFI kits cover just about every combination of components a DIY car builder could need for an LS1/2/6 swap, and as we hinted at earlier, shoppers will have the convenient choice to opt out of hardware components they might already have. With that said, every FiTech Ultimate Rebel LS kit includes the following: heavy-gauge fabricated aluminum intake manifold boost-rated to 27 psi, 92mm (500 hp) or 102mm (750 and 1,000 hp) throttle body with integrated MAP, IAT, and TPS sensors, high-flow fuel injectors, fuel rail kit, redesigned fuel rail brackets, self-learning ECU with handheld controller, three-bar MAP sensor for forced induction, oxygen sensor and clamp-on bung kit, a complete wiring harness, brackets, and hardware. Ultimate Rebel LS EFI Systems are available for Chevy LS1/LS3/LS6 engines with a 24x or 58x crank reluctor and cathedral port heads.

FiTech’s low-profile Ultimate Rebel LS intake manifold is available as a stand-alone kit without the EFI system for $995 (includes throttle body, injectors, 3-bar MAP and IAT sensors, throttle cable bracket, and fuel rail kit) or $549 (manifold and fuel rail kit only).

Rec-Port LS and Short-Runners Coming Soon

Do you have a later LS with rectangle-port cylinder heads? FiTech says its Ultimate Rebel LS EFI kits will soon be available in rectangle-port configurations, and all Ultimate Rebel LS intakes will be available with satin and polished finishes. Short runners and drive-by-wire will also be an option, but as of press time these were not searchable options on the FiTech website (you’ll need to call FiTech’s customer service line at 951-340-2624, option 2, to get more up-to-date options).
